Dr. Pinhkeo Southaphanh
Dr. Pinhkeo Southaphanh was born in Laos. Her family immigrated to the United States when she was 8 years old. Assimilating to a different country and culture taught her the value of hard work and integrity which took her to the top of her class at Lompoc High School. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. She then continued on to the Southern California College of Optometry.
She is married with two children. As a family, they enjoy traveling, fishing, hiking and spending time with their church family.
Dr. Southaphanh believes that every patient deserves thoroughness when it comes to an eye exam. Her goal with each patient is to accurately examine, diagnose, manage and treat your eye condition such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and ocular diseases.
Many sight threatening conditions may go undiagnosed for many years before the patient starts to experience visual symptoms; such diseases include glaucoma and macular degeneration. Maintaining good eye health begins from a very young age.
The American Optometric Association (AOA) recommends that a child’s first eye exam begin at 6 months of age. The second eye exam should be at 3 years of age. Most other states, besides California, have already mandated that children get an eye exam before they start kindergarten.
